A little Taste Of History (“Philly”)

Philadelphia – or “Philly” as the locals call it – is a landmark of the United States.

First of all, this is the birth place of the historic Philadelphia cheese and the famous Cheesesteaks, those tasty beef cheesy sandwiches with onions. Also, many important faces are still inspiring the citizens, such as Rocky with his gym routine in front of the Art museum. Soon, Philly will become again part of history with the Pope’s visit and who is, to the best of my knowledge, the first Pope to approve Mc Donalds.

Oh, and I almost forgot! The signature of the Independence Act and of the United States constitution were signed in Philly, in the national hall. The 2 first presidents of the United States even ruled the country from the city. So truely, Philly is a place of food history, equality and has a great sense of humor, such as the writer of this post!

How to get to Philadelphia:
2 hours drive from NY.
Bus is also a great option:
– Megabus: http://us.megabus.com/
– Boltbus: https://www.boltbus.com/

Where to eat a cheesesteaks?
Plenty of options at the Reading Terminal Market.

My pick: Sonny’s Famous Cheesesteaks
Located in Old Town and a bit remote from the others but really tasty!

To act like a local you can order “one whiz with” (one cheesesteak = one ; with whiz cheese = whiz; with onions = onions).
